Spending quality time with your children may seem hard when both parents and kids are distracted by work, chores, homework, TV and more. However, it is necessary (and fun!) if you want your child to grow up healthy and happy. Here are some ideas to help you nurture and grow your individual relationships with your little ones.
Schedule a weekly or monthly lunch date at their favorite restaurant. And be sure to splurge a little; no diets allowed!
What does your child love? Find something related to that. For instance, if they like baseball, take them to a game. If they love dinosaurs, take them to a natural history museum.
There are new family-friendly movies coming out every week. Plan a day to go see one, and then have dinner afterward to discuss it.
Get active, whether it’s going on a hike, riding bikes around the neighborhood or playing volleyball at the beach.
Read a book to your child before bed every night. Try a book series, like Harry Potter, and be sure to discuss the challenges the characters face after every couple chapters.
When spending one-on-one time with your kids, always remember to keep the focus on them. Don’t be distracted by phone calls or making dinner. Children are observant, and it goes a long way in your relationship when they know you are giving them your undivided attention. W
