Orange County Ataxia Walk N’ Roll 2018
It’s already that time of year! The OC Ataxia Walk N’ Roll will be here on September 15, 2018, at the Eastlake Village Community Center, located at 5325 Village Center Dr., in Yorba Linda. Registration starts at 8:00 a.m., and the Walk n’ Roll starts at 9:00 a.m. It’s one mile around the lake.
What is Ataxia? The word “ataxia”, comes from the Greek word, “a taxis” meaning “without order or in-coordination”. People with this disease have problems with coordination because parts of the nervous system that control movement and balance are affected. This disease may affect the fingers, hands, arms, legs, body, speech, and eye movements. Ataxia is also used to denote a group of specific degenerative diseases of the nervous system called the hereditary and sporadic ataxias which are the National Ataxia Foundation’s primary emphases.
Registration is free, and donations are gladly accepted.
There will be much more to do that just the walk. There will be a DJ, opportunity drawing for participants, vendors showing their products/services, children’s activities including face painting, balloon animals, and games, and a chance to unite with other affected by ataxia
After the Walk n’ Roll, grab some lunch onsite at one of the food vendor options that will be available. On-site food vendors are donating a percentage of sales back to NAF all day on the 15th.
