Persimmon Fruit Taste-Testing Event

Join the UC ANR South Coast Research and Extension Center, on Thursday, November 9, for a Persimmon fruit  taste-testing event, along with a Safe Food Handling & Recipes presentation starting at 10:30 a.m., aOrange County Events on November 9, 2017t the UC ANR South Couth RE Center, located at 7601 Irvine Blvd., in Irvine. This event is free and requires no pre-registration.

There is a special opportunity to join UC ANR South Coast REC’s own persimmon aficionados, Isabel Barkman and Greg Rager, UCCE Orange County Master Gardener and CA Rare Fruit Grower Volunteers, for a special VIP fall stroll through the Center’s persimmon collection. Learn fun facts and have questions answered about these delectable wonders of the fall. Following the tour, enjoy a U-pick opportunity harvesting Hachiya persimmon varieties great for pairing with your favorite Thanksgiving dishes, preserving, or try your hand at Hoshigaki – the ancient Japanese art of drying persimmons.

There will also be persimmon fruit and low-water use plant clearance sale available for everyone. Cash or checks only, no credit cards.
