Microchips greatly increase the chances that pets will be reunited with their families if they are lost or stolen, but a chip only works if its registration information is accurate.
Registering and Updating Your Pet’s Microchip
Consider making an appointment with your veterinarian if your pet isn’t already microchipped. Once your pet is microchipped, routinely check to see that the microchip’s registration information is up-to-date by creating an account through the chip’s manufacturer. Chips contain information like your home address, phone number, and a unique pet identification number.
