Free Drip Irrigation Workshop
Chino Hills residents are invited to attend a special workshop to learn how to convert their planter beds from spray to drip irrigation on Saturday, September 23rd, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., at the Chino Basin Water Conservation District, 4594 San Bernardino Street in Montclair.
The free workshop, sponsored by the Inland Empire Utilities Agency (IEUA) and Three Valleys Municipal Water District, will show residents how to reduce their water usage by 80 percent when they convert spray irrigation to drip irrigation. Homeowners who attend can receive an all-in-one Spray-To-Drip Retrofit Kit for planter beds, a value of $199. To be eligible for the kit, homeowners must have an existing automated irrigation system, provide three pre-project photos, and show a copy of their water bill. A $50 refundable deposit is required. Once the kit is installed (within 60 days), residents will receive a site inspection, and the deposit will be refunded at that time or with the return of an unused kit.
Although California received a significant amount of rainfall this year, the City is still under a Stage II Moderate Water Conservation Alert.
The drip irrigation workshop requires pre-registration. Residents can register at www.ieua.org/workshops/. For more information, call the IEUA hotline at (909) 993-1952.
