In recognition of World Rabies Day, the Corona Animal Shelter ( will be holding a low-cost Rabies vaccination and dog licensing clinic on Saturday, September 28, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
World Rabies Day is a global health observance started in 2007 to raise awareness about rabies and bring together partners to enhance prevention and control efforts worldwide. World Rabies Day is observed in many countries, including the United States.
Rabies is a virus that is transmissible from animals to humans. Each year approximately 60,000 people die from the deadly disease. The most common method of contracting rabies is from an animal bite. To reduce the risk of infection, the State of California requires that all dogs over the age of four months be vaccinated against rabies.
Vaccines will be $6.00 per dog, cash only. Only late fees will be waived for expired and delinquent dog licenses that are brought current at the Rabies Clinic.
All dogs must be on a leash and under the control of a responsible adult.
