CERT Training for Teens

As teens, there are probably a lot of things you’re told you can’t do. But there is one very important thing you can do: Learn to protect yourself, your family, and your friends in case of a disaster. This November, the Corona Fire Department will be holding a CERT training designed for YOU!

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program, implemented in many communities across the country, is designed to increase individual and community preparedness and self-reliance in the event of man-made or natural disasters. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has officially recognized CERT as an important part of a community’s disaster preparedness readiness. The City of Corona Fire Department Community Emergency Response Team program prepares individuals for increased self-reliance which can supplement City resources in the event of a disaster or other major emergency. CERT volunteers are trained in emergency procedures and are duly registered as Disaster Service Workers in accordance with the California Government Code and the City of Corona Municipal Code.

The class will be take place November 1 through November 3, 2019 at the Corona Fire Headquarters, located at 735 Public Safety Way. Registration will be limited to 30 participants and teens must be 15 years or older. Fill out the Interest Form to inquire about registration. Registration will be held on a first come, first serve basis.

20 hours of classroom and hands-on training will prepare the student for all types of hazards and disasters. Classes will be held at the Fire Department Training Center.
