The Let It Be Foundation is ready to GO! They’re hosting their 10th Annual 5K+Run/Walk on May 7, 2016 at Chino Hills High School. It promises to be better than ever!
Ruthe Rosen, The Let It Be Foundation CEO, expects over 3,000 participants this year, including some of its 28 supported families (depending on where they are with treatment and if they are able to participate).
The 5K+ event was initiated in 2007, the year after the foundation was founded, as an opportunity for community members to come show their support for the Let It Be families. For some families, it was their first time getting involved in serving their community. This year, previously supported families will also be present at the event; some of whose children are in remission and some of whose children have now gone to heaven.
The local Inland Empire Running Club (IERC) of Chino Hills and The Let It Be Foundation have partnered up this year to provide support by having runners participate in the event, as well as provide volunteer support before, during, and after the event. You’ve probably spotted groups of IERC runners and walkers Saturday mornings training together in Chino Hills.
Since the 5K+Run/Walk is not a timed event, getting support from IERC not only helps their cause, but it also engages those who take running seriously or want to be challenged. “IERC’s input for the event preplanning process is valuable,” Ruthe proclaims. She recalled that at last year’s event, IERC won the largest team entry with 190 participants.
Not ready to commit yet? Check out some of the perks for this year’s event: technical t-shirts, some serious bling (AKA: metal finisher’s medal), scrumptious pancake breakfast at the Finish Line, water stations throughout the scenic course, Cheer Zones, and a Challenge Course. Special recognition and awards will go to Most Funds Raised, Most Outrageous Socks, Best Team Spirit, Craziest Outfits, Largest Group, and Wild Card.
With the guiding spirit of Karla Ash-Rosen, who was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor and is now in heaven, this 10th Annual 5K+ Run/Walk is sure to stir the mind, body, and spirit of all who participate. So, why not get ready, to be set, and GO?
