Mission: To provide ongoing support and services to families of children diagnosed with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses throughout the sick child’s treatment, with a focus on the entire family.
A child diagnosed with a life threatening illness is a parent’s worst nightmare, yet families are faced with this devastating news every day. Karla Asch-Rosen was a beautiful, bright 15-year-old girl when she and her family discovered that she had a cancerous, inoperable brain tumor. Her heartfelt desire was to “just be normal” and share her faith with others, which she did, until she passed away in 2006.
Drawing inspiration from her daughter’s strong spirit, Ruthe Rosen established The Let It Be Foundation in Karla’s honor. The non-profit’s mission reflects the life-changing impact that illness can have on the family dynamic; it provides monthly support and services to the families of children diagnosed with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses throughout the sick child’s treatment, with focus on the entire family.
With the help of the community, The Let It Be Foundation has thrived by caring for and providing relief to overwhelmed and financially strained families. The foundation helps them to enjoy things right in their own community by socializing and having fun. Most importantly, they help children and their families avoid centering their existence on a disease, and instead, focus on the positives that can come from it.
Statistics:
- Each year in the United States, there are approximately 13,400 children between the ages of birth and 19 years of age who are diagnosed with life threatening illnesses.

- More than 65% of parents feel anxious and stressed due to the uncertainty of the child’s condition and the unexpected financial burden.
