When we go to Knott’s Scary Farm or Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights, there’s comfort in the back of our minds that no matter how frightening these events can be, we know it’s not real. We know deep down that actors and employees don costumes and put on makeup every night for the sole purpose of looking gruesome and taking us by surprise.
Well…the same cannot be said about the Haunted Upland Spirit Walk, and that’s a good thing. Combining local history with the paranormal, Marco Santucci and Scott Ault of Darklands Paranormal are your supernatural experts as they take you on a stroll through Upland with lots of ghostly stops along the way.
Beginning with the old Upland Feed & Fuel building, the two hosts (along with Historic Upland Walking Tours founder Ann Lara), tell their personal stories of ghostly encounters. The best part? They even provide evidence! Marco shares photos and audio of real-live (oops, we meant real-dead) ghosts. From the old owner and possible former patrons of the Grove Theater to the spooky inhabitant of the Feed & Fuel building, the supernatural make their presence known – and give us the chills just thinking about it. Seriously, those deep, scratchy voices gave us nightmares for days.
Our stops included the Feed & Fuel building, Grove Theatre and Salon Gente Bella, but the full extended tour also stops by the Upland Public Library, Cooper Museum, Pet Food Emporium and much more.
Along with the chilling anecdotes, Ann supplemented the night with interesting facts about Upland history, including the fire that roared down streets and a brief, albeit memorable, visit from one of the U.S. Presidents. Want to learn more? Guess you will have to attend the Haunted Upland Spirit Walk to find out!
The first tour (tomorrow, Friday, October 16th) is sold out, but tickets are still available for October 29-30th for only $20 presale. Half the proceeds go to funding the Cooper Museum. The walk is about 1 mile in length over flat surfaces and takes about two hours to complete. It’s not recommended for children under 12 as certain ghosts can behave a little naughty. If you’re a fan of the haunted, this is a Spirit Walk you don’t want to miss out on! Buy tickets here. For more information, check out our event details here.
