For people unfamiliar with Botox and Dysport, they may seem complicated and even frightening. However, for those with experience, it’s a wonderful treatment they look forward to! Smoothing facial lines by relaxing dynamic muscles is the action of Botox and Dysport, and they’ve been used for over 20 years without any long-term adverse effects.
The results last approximately 3-4 months, leading to a gradual return to prior treatment appearance. Our patients are so impressed they frequently wish the effects lasted longer. At Luxe Aesthetic Center, we use only full-strength Botox and Dysport and customize the treatment to your facial anatomy by providing the appropriate amount for your desired look.
Botox and Dysport are highly purified proteins made much in the same way as antibiotics. No numbness or permanent changes are associated with their use. Side effects can include bruising, redness, slight swelling at injection site, and rarely, eyelid heaviness/droop.
If you’ve used Botox, you may not know it has other surprising benefits as well.
Here are a few alternative uses for Botox:
Drooping Brow: Also known as brow ptosis, this is a condition that can be caused by certain factors such as trauma to the area or natural aging. If you suffer from this type of brow, it can give the constant appearance of sadness or grumpiness and make you look older than your years. Botox or Dysport can provide a helpful lift by treating the muscles involved.
Excessive Sweating: Medically known as hyperhidrosis, this embarrassing condition results in excessive and unpredictable sweating, even when at rest. It’s uncomfortable but it can be improved by Botox. Botox disrupts the connection between sweat glands and nerves, reducing sweating, with excellent results lasting 9-10 months.
Migraine Headaches: While Botox cannot stop migraines, it can reduce the debilitating symptoms associated with them such as nausea, auras, light sensitivity, and headache pain. This makes migraines more tolerable. Botox works better for some types of migraines than others.
When compared to the cost of cosmetic surgery such as a facelift, Botox and Dysport are a quicker, less expensive, but temporary option. These treatments, which are performed by a professional, licensed, and recommended provider, give great results. Don’t be tempted to choose the cheapest option as doing so may be a risk to your outcome. Your appearance and safety are our highest priority, and we want you to look your best!
Lastly, to minimize bruising, we use an AccuVein to actually see the vessels under the skin during treatment. However, we also recommend avoiding alcohol, high-dose vitamin E, aspirin, Motrin, and any other blood-thinning medication (unless it’s taken for a heart condition).
