Your best you is the one who looks in the mirror and is happy with what they see. This is not emphasizing the physical – when you stare deep into your own reflection, are you at peace with who is staring back? Do you add to other people’s life to help them love the person they mirror as well? Bringing out the best in you requires hard work. It means digging down into your heart and tossing out what doesn’t belong there. Likewise, bringing out the best in others happens when you love yourself, so you can complement someone else’s life with that same love.
Are you still walking around with an emotional bag of luggage? Now is the time to face your lingering problems. Once you work through them, you will feel lighter and better prepared to cope with the normal stresses of life. By ridding yourself of these emotional burdens, you will blossom into the person you were created to be. Sometimes it’s a past relationship, other times it’s a childhood memory or another setback you just can’t forget. Whatever it is, it’s time to let it go and make room for a more positive life.
If you are with your loved ones, are you present with them or are you lost in thought? It is important to take the time to affirm the ones we love and tell them how special and unique they are. Is there something you admire about a friend that you’ve never shared with them? You know how great it feels when someone acknowledges your strengths, so reciprocating that same kind of compassion is what will really bring out the best in those around you.
Remember that generosity goes a long way. There is something amazing that happens when you express a generous heart and give to others. This doesn’t always mean giving something tangible. Giving your time and energy can be a wonderful way to express your love. Do you feel blessed when someone takes time out of their schedule to show up and be present in your life? How much more will others feel when you make them a priority, as well?
Being at your best is a challenge well worth the effort. Not only will you feel better about life and feel secure in who you are, you will also help others feel more secure. Remember that today is the first day of the rest of your life; make a positive shift and watch your peace have a ripple effect on those around you.
